The inaugural vintage of depiction will be the one from which we benchmark future releases. Rich, opulent, and elegant, the 2012 surpassed our expectations and is indeed a worthy debut for this project.
For the inaugural 2012 vintage, we selected artist Monika Steiner. Monika is a Swiss artist, now based in Tiburon, CA, whose abstract work is globally shown and respected.
As with most artwork, viewing in person is far more compelling than a reproduction. The original label segments on the 2012 depiction bottles transmit an impressive amount of depth, texture, richness, and color. Three segments from different locations of the same original painting displayed side by side in the presentation box provide an interesting and powerful juxtaposition.

The 2012 growing season was an ideal one for the first depiction vintage. A classic Napa Valley vintage with steady temperatures, normal yields, and perfect ripeness. The grapes were vigorously sorted, fermented in barrel, and then returned to age in fine grained French oak barrels for about two years with minimal intervention. The wine exhibits an inherent power and elegance, and should age gracefully for 20-30 years.
